About Me

Hey there! I'm Josiah Voight, a passionate undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, majoring in Information Science and Technology. Currently, I'm diving into the world of software engineering as an intern at AbbVie, where I get to flex my skills in full-stack development.

When I'm not knee-deep in code, you'll find me at home with my four incredible cats. Yes, you read that right – I'm a proud cat dad to four furballs who keep me on my toes and always provide endless entertainment.

Beyond tech and cats, I have a knack for solving Rubik's cubes. Give me one, and I'll have it sorted in under 30 seconds. It's a fun challenge that I've turned into a bit of a hobby over the years.

Projects

ToolNavigator (AbbVie intern project, in progress)

At AbbVie, I'm personally responsible for a complete rebuild of ToolNavigator, a full-stack web application designed to streamline access to data visualization tools for scientists. Utilizing React, TypeScript, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Python, SQL, and OracleDB, I've encountered challenges in integrating diverse technologies to ensure seamless functionality across the platform. This project has deepened my understanding of database management, API development, and the intricacies of deploying enterprise-level applications. I'm continually learning about optimizing performance, security considerations, and enhancing user accessibility within a corporate environment.

Sportle (in progress)

Sportle is a social media platform aimed at connecting enthusiasts of smaller, less-common sports. Using React and TypeScript for the frontend, and leveraging AppWrite Cloud for backend services, this project challenges me to create a user-friendly interface that fosters community and engagement among niche sports fans. One of the main challenges has been designing scalable architecture to handle potentially large user bases while maintaining smooth performance. I'm learning valuable lessons in frontend development, backend integration, and user experience design as I navigate this project.

Tableau DataDev Hackathon

For the Tableau DataDev Hackathon, I led a team to develop a website clone of LinkTree integrated with an interactive Tableau dashboard. This data science project aims to provide social media creators with detailed analytics and AI-driven insights through Python, Flask, React, TypeScript, PythonAnywhere, and Tableau. Challenges included synchronizing data updates between platforms and implementing AI algorithms for predictive analytics. This project has enhanced my skills in data visualization, API integration, and collaborative problem-solving, emphasizing the importance of user-centric design and real-time data processing.
